CAT Cup - Peterborough R/C Trucks

I recently discovered that Peterborough has an R/C dirt track and a club, the Peterborough Monster R/C Club. My brother who was on vacation from Alberta owns several trucks, so we decided to check out the CAT Cup racing action on Saturday Oct. 27th. The weather was miserable with off and on rain (heavy at times), and as we drove over we expected the races would have been cancelled. When we arrived we where pleasantly surprised to find a good crowd of racers (imagine if the weather had been good). If we had known that they would still be racing, we probably would have gone out earlier in the day. We stayed for two or three races before having to go pick up my daughter to take her swimming. The action was fast and the dirt was flying, I had to clean up the camera gear afterwards.

Rowing, Lacrosse and Boxing

Saturday was a very busy day of shooting. I started off the day by shooting rowing at the Head of the Trent. I had got off work at 4 am and only slept for an hour before heading out to get the rowers in the early morning light and mist on the water. (more pics)

Later that day I moved on to shooting Trent University Men's Field lacrosse. (more pics)

As soon as the field lacrosse ended, I headed over to the Trentwinds for some boxing. I arrived during the intermission, which gave me time to grab a quick bite to eat before getting back to shooting. (more photos)

Kawartha Lakes Wakeboard Open 2007

The weather on Saturday was perfect for the Kawartha Lakes Wakeboard Open 2007, on Chemong Lake. Brad and the crew from Kawartha Lakes Wakeboard Co. put on a fantastic event which included wakeboarding, wake skating, bands playing throughout the day and a Bikini contest. I spent the eight hour in the boat photographing the riders.

Boats and Bikes

Practice continued today on Little Lake in Peterborough, for next weekends (June 16th) Dragon Boat Festival.
Ryan Leech from the Norco Team was in Peterborough putting on a Trials Riding demo at Fontaine Source for Sports.
The demo started out with a high jump from a standing still position. He performed this several times, raising the bar each time.

Ryan went on to perform many other stunts and tricks that demonstrated his balance, co-ordination and ability to manuever his bike with precision.
Next weekend is very busy with events, including Soap Box Racing at the Gravity Cavity (behind Kwawartha Downs), the Dragon Boat Festival on Little Lake, and finally the Buckhorn Battle (Boxing) put on by BEL Boxing.

High School Rowing

I photographed the Annual Mothers Day High School Rowing event at Trent University on Sunday. Unfortunately the area that the actual racing was taking place was away from any accesible shooting postions. Since I was shooting for fun today, I just enjoyed shooting some of the non-racing action.

Monster Jam 2007 - Toronto

Last weekend was very busy, as I was photographing the Monster Jam at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for the O.O.R.A. (Ontario Off-Road Racing Assoc.). The show featured a parade of custom motorcycles, Radio-controlled trucks, Freestyle Motorcross (FMX), Off-road Truck racing and of course the monster trucks.

Saturday they started off by opening the floor for a giant Pit Party where the fans had a chance to check out all the vehicles and get autographs.

It was a fantastic two days of racing, and the O.O.R.A. drivers and crew did a fantastic job.
